Johannesburg, 1968. Sixteen-year-old Khuthala dreams of becoming a jazz musician. He wants nothing to do with his father’s small laundry business, a fragile enterprise barelysurviving under apartheid’s restrictions on Black entrepreneurs.
When his father is arrested and brutally beaten, Khuthala is forced into a devastating bargain that pits his talent, friendships and moral compass against a state determined to erase Black ownership and identity.
His sacrifice saves nothing.
Under apartheid, even dreams are contraband.
