COMICS WORKSHOP

Creating New Worlds: Building Worlds, Characters and Stories.

Join animation director, Somto Ajuluchukwu, and graphic artist Stephanie Martei for a two-day creative workshop exploring the power of African storytelling. The workshop is open to Australian youth of African heritage who are interested in visual storytelling. This is a hands on workshop where attendees will learn how to craft authentic visual narratives and gain a unique insight into how deeply rooted African philosophies, aesthetics, and stories can shape compelling, globally resonant narratives. The workshop is open to African Australian's aged 16 - 25, interested in a career as writers, animators, game designers, comic artists and creatives looking to ground their work in cultural identity and innovation. 

The Creating New Worlds Comics workshop is hosted by the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) in collaboration with the Africa Film Fest Australia, a project of Arts & Cultural Exchange (ACE), and the African Youth Initiative Sydney (AYIS).
